Year 8 Successes
Leaving Year 8 pupils deserve huge congratulations Thursday 7 July 2011Our leaving Year 8s many of whom have been at St Aubyns since Reception are to be congratulated on their many achievements during the course of the year.
It is part of the role of a prep school to direct families towards the school which will best suit each child and this year the Leavers are moving on to a typically wide range of schools: 8 to St Bede's, 5 to Roedean, 3 to Brighton College, 2 to Lancing and 1 to each of Eastbourne, Worth, Lewes Old Grammar School, Lord Wandsworth College and Stanbridge Earls.
All of the children passed their entrance exams to their school of choice. For most this was Common Entrance and their results were the best in many years: 83% of grades were A to C and 57% A to B. Eleven of the 17 CE candidates gained A grades in French which is a record achievement. Three pupils also took Ancient Greek at Common Entrance, all gaining an A grade. These results for a non-selective school in the rigorous arena of Common Entrance are remarkable.
Scholarship awards have been earned in Academic, Art, Drama, Music and All-round categories establishing again the excellence of St Aubyns in each of these areas. The full list of awards is:
Ben Alexander - Music Scholarship to Brighton College
Rebecca Bredin - Millennium Scholarship (Academic, Drama and Sport) to Brighton College
Phoebe Connolly - Art Scholarship to Roedean
Bella Coxon - Art Scholarship and Drama Scholarship to Brighton College
Perry Eggleton - Drama Scholarship to St Bede's
Saoirse McGilligan - Academic Exhibition to Roedean
Isabella Neergaard Petersen - Drama Scholarship to Roedean
Clarissa Philpott - Forbes Wastie Academic and Music Scholarship to Eastbourne College
All of the pupils are to be congratulated on their achievements and on all that they have contributed to the life of St Aubyns this year and in the past. Well done!
