Prep School Trip to 'Oliver!'
Years 3 to 8 visit the West End Wednesday 15 September 2010
The show was on in the Drury Lane Theatre and we arrived in good time to find out that we had been upgraded to seats in the Upper Circle. The children behaved exceptionally well all day and seemed to thoroughly enjoy the fantastic production. I felt the show was a tightly rehearsed and light hearted version of the rather dark Charles Dickens story. I enjoyed all aspects of the production: The set and costumes were superb, the choreography stunning, the orchestra and the singing strong. The acting was very good, although I had many conversations with children who felt the acting was not quite as good our production last year! I felt Ross Abbot made a very engaging Fagin and I was
entertained by his little adlibs which made his performance unique.
Overall, the children seemed to really benefit from seeing such an enjoyable show. We arrived home safely just after 8pm – with even the young Year 3s managing to survive the long bus trip and get off the coaches with smiles on their faces! Thank you to all the staff who helped made such a big trip so easy to run.
