Year 8 Leavers' Successes
St Aubyns pupils move on to senior schools full of honours Saturday 24 July 2010The twenty-six Year 8 pupils who will be moving on to their senior schools in September were able to celebrate a hugely successful year at the end of the Summer Term.
Eleven of the pupils achieved scholarships and other awards: three academic awards (to Brighton and Hove High School, Hurstpierpoint and Brighton College), four drama awards (to Hurstpierpoint, St Bede's, Moira House and Brighton College), one art award (to St Bede's), one music award (to Brighton College) and three all-round awards reflecting variously academic, sporting, musical, dramatic and artistic ability (two to Lancing College and one to Gordonstoun). These awards are a huge credit to the children who achieved them and to the teachers who have worked assiduously to prepare the pupils for their assessments.
The Common Entrance results were the best that St Aubyns has achieved for some years with particularly notable achievements in the Maths, Science, French, History and Geography departments. The percentage of A/A* and B grades overall was the highest in recent years which again reflects well upon the hard work of the pupils and their teacehrs.
These talented pupils leave St Aubyns to join twelve diferent schools - 7 to St Bede's, 4 to Lewes Old Grammar School, 3 to Lancing, 2 to each of Eastbourne, Hurstpierpoint and Roedean, and 1 to each of Brighton and Hove High School, Brighton College, Culford, Gordonstoun, Harrow and Winchester.
