The children had been rehearsing hard all term and spent much time learning their lines and practicing the songs. The curtain went up on a very excited group of Year 1s and 2s on Monday 21st June.

The show had a strong opening in which all the cast presented themselves with energy. The Narrators worked hard throughout the show and gave a clear and precise telling of the outline of the story. Well done to Henry and Ella who were focused and spoke with great confidence. The main characters were extremely well portrayed and Mole (Kyiga), Ratty (Noah), Badger (Grace) and Toad (Hugo) performed at all times with fun and spontaneity.

I was very impressed with the overall standard of acting. There were some wonderful cameo roles with Lulu as the protective and bossy Mrs Rabbit, James as the bored and grumpy Horse, Alexander as the crazy motor car driver and again as the bewildered Washerwoman.  Benjamin and William made the Court scene entertaining, and Nicole was most endearing in her part as the Gaoler’s daughter. The Wild Wooders (Sam, Luca, Yuzhe, Patrick and Freddie) excelled themselves in their “badness” and I was delighted with how hard they tried in the performance.

Overall, I was delighted with the show. I felt it was a great success and I was very impressed with how hard everyone worked. I feel privileged to have had the opportunity to work with these children. Well done to all of you! A special thank you goes to the parents for providing the costumes, to Mrs Flowers and Mum (!) for the superb make up and of course a very big thank you to Miss Behdad for all her support with the music.
