Oliver - George

The children at St Aubyns are now recovering from one of the most fantastic shows they have ever put on. Last weekend (11th, 12th, 13th March) 66 cast and crew were dancing, singing and acting their hearts out in the Village Hall at Rottingdean. The show, "Oliver!" by Lionel Bart is a brilliant show stopper that suited our budding young actors well. The cast worked hard all term rehearsing in every spare moment to get

the dance, music and drama up to a very high standard. I was very proud of all the children.

There were some wonderful performances. Luke Tilbury (Fagin) managed to sustain his character throughout and  played the role with incredible maturity and brilliant comic timing. Sam Harrison (Dodger) and George Loder (Oliver) worked very well together and their rendition of "Consider yourself" will stay with me for a very long time. Phoebe Jackson (Nancy) who had a wonderful stage presence, played her part with strength and elegance. The chorus  held it all together in the big numbers and Fagin's gang, who maintained such high energy levels throughout, bowled me over with how much fun they had!

A big thank you to all the staff who supported me with this event, especially Miss Behdad (Director of Music) and Mrs Orys (Head of Dance). It was an absolutely brilliant show, and one to be remembered for a very long time to come!
