Musketeers are 2010 Spelling Champions!
Another impressive display in the St Aubyns Spelling Competition Thursday 28 January 2010Postponed from the start of term, the second St Aubyns Spelling Competition took place last week and proved just
as exciting as the first. The most able spellers from each Section, in each year group, had clearly been practising
over the Christmas break and once again impressed their audience with a fine display of spelling aloud. To much
encouragement and appreciative applause from the rest of the school, 24 children tested their knowledge and
mettle on stage in the Performing Arts Studio, grappling with increasingly difficult and occasionally devilish words
(remember bourgeoisie anyone?). As last year, the performance of the younger pupils stood out – particularly that
of Kate (Year 3) and Claudia (Year 4). At the end it was George (Year 6) who was able to keep going the
longest, garnering additional points for the Musketeers who were already in a winning position - a particular coup
for them, having come from fourth place last year. All in all, this was another impressive display from our spelling
champions and a genuine pleasure to watch. Well done to all.
