Treasure Island - Arts Express Day
First 'Literary Classics' Arts Express day of the year Saturday 24 October 2009This year all of our Arts Express days will focus on Literary Classics enabling the children to explore great works of literature throught the arts.
On Thursday 22nd October Years 6, 7 and 8 enjoyed the first Arts Express day of the academic year as they entered wholeheartedly into a day themed on the classic pirate tale, ‘Treasure Island’ by Robert Louis Stevenson.
Children and staff came to school in splendid pirate (and parrot!) costumes, ready to dance, act and sing in a carousel of workshops provided by visiting artists and our own staff. The day culminated in a performance of the story of 'Treasure Island', retold through dance, drama and song. Particular thanks must go Miss Spink, Mrs McChrystal and Miss Behdad for organising and coordinating the event, and as always, to the pupils for entering into the spirit of the day with such energy and good humour!
