St Aubyns’ Students Triumph at Lancing College
Concours d’Art Oratoire – French Speaking Competition Thursday 19 March 2009English and French flags were taken to Lancing College on Tuesday 17th March but the St Aubyns flag was certainly flying high!
Our seven contestants prepared and performed a presentation of their own choice as well as a chosen poem, all in French. The standard of French was extremely high throughout and the competition was strong. However, in true St Aubyns style, 2nd prize was awarded for the Year 7 poem “Je suis enragé. J’aime” by Victor Hugo, 2nd prize was awarded for the Year 8 presentation “L’Histoire de la France” and 1st prize was
quite deservedly won by an excellent performance of “L’Accent Grave” by Jacques Prévert.
Although prizes were not awarded to all competitors, they were truly all winners in our eyes and we were very proud of their achievements.
What a great afternoon was had by all! Lancing College were excellent hosts and we are very much looking forward to next year’s event!
