St Aubyns to reduce fees in most year groups Tuesday 3 March 2009

The Governing Board of St Aubyns has approved a plan for re-structuring the fees at St Aubyns beginning from September 2009. This plan has been part of a review of the strategic vision for the school which has been ongoing since Simon Hitchings became Headmaster in September 2007 and is the result of many months of careful planning.

St Aubyns is a traditional, family-centred school which genuinely prioritises the individual needs of all pupils through small class sizes. As a ‘stand alone’ prep school unaffiliated to any senior school but preparing children for local and national schools we have a unique position in the market place of independent schools in the Brighton area.

It is the school's intention to grow the numbers within the school to 220 which will be manageable within our campus. In order to do this we are beginning to address the issue of affordability in a highly competitive market, and this has led to a re-structuring of the school fees which involves a reduction of the fees in most year groups. This plan has the full support of the school’s auditors.

For the academic year 2009-10, the termly school fees will be:

Existing arrangements in regard to the Early Years grant will continue. The fees for a full-time place in the Nursery will be £1430 and part-time places will be charged at £20.25 per session.

The supplement for a full weekly boarding place will be £850 per term. The cost of flexi-boarding will be:
•    for occasional flexi-boarding £25 per night
•    for regular commitment to flexi-boarding: £20 per week for one night, £36 per week for two nights, £50 per week for three nights

Bursaries and scholarships will be available for those who meet the relevant criteria.
