Primary Schools OLIVER Workshop
Tuesday 11 November 2008On Saturday 8th November, St Aubyns Performing Arts Department opened their doors to local Primary Schools and ran an all day dance/drama OLIVER workshop. Over twenty children attended and the day proved to be a great success.
After an initial warm up, the children were split into two groups; each group taking part in both a Dance and Drama Workshop. The dance was led by Mrs Orys, our Head of Dance. By the end of the day the children had managed to learn three routines. Whilst the Drama, which was led by Miss Spink, our Head of Drama, entailed trying to stage a 30 minute non-scripted version of the musical. Not an easy task! However, by 3pm the children had created enough for a show and were ready and willing to perform! The Drama studio soon got filled to the brim with parents and their families waiting to see what we had done all day and this helped create an exciting atmosphere for the show.
Overall, I felt that the children performed with great skill, conviction and with high levels of enthusiasm. They were quite outstanding! The show was smooth, energetic and above all – entertaining. I thoroughly enjoyed the day and was delighted with all that we had managed to achieve. A special “congratulations” to those who took part. Well done! I look forward to doing it all again next year!
