The St Aubyns Cubs are back on song

Under 9 Football Monday 20 October 2008

The Cubs were once again in familiar territory with two good wins in a space of three days.
They started their recovery programme with a 7-1 away win at St Ronans on Saturday followed by another more convincing 11-2 win away to Fonthill Lodge. It was a true test of character for our young lads after the Dorset House match the previous Wednesday.

The onslaught started with the reinvention of Dylan Gifford who suddenly found form and played like a Trojan in defence and managed to score two special goals in the process. Ryan and Fenton were menacing in front of goal and their exchanges were a marvel to watch while Eric, as usual, was the backbone in midfield. His deft touches combined with his goal scoring prowess made the team tick.  At the heart of defence was the unyielding Charles and of course the safe pair of hands of Leo Wilson.

It is pleasing to see these young lads tear apart defences week in and  week out and, as we head for the half term, I am sure they will take the opportunity to rest and recharge their batteries and come back with even more vigour in order for them to complete the Assault Course before the end of term.

The B Team also posted their second victory with a well deserved 1-0 victory at Fonthill Lodge. Murray Trott was man of the match but all the boys, led by their captain Ash, deserve a mention as they played with conviction and were united as a team. Keep up the good work, boys.
