A week of mixed fortunes for the St Aubyns Cubs

Under 9 Football Thursday 9 October 2008

The Cubs produced one of their best performances against a very strong and physical Brambletye team on Saturday. On a day of vociferous winds and wet weather, the boys were uncompromising, and they played positional football with great awareness and team spirit.
The result was a convincing 5-2 win. Two goals from Eric who has remained the stalwart and mainstay of the team and another double from Fenton who played perhaps his best match so far this season saw us leading by four goals to two before Ryan fired another to seal the victory.
Dylan and Charles were rock solid in defence and Man of the match Leo was superb in goals.

Wednesday was however a different ball game. We met a well polished and structured Dorset House team. Although our boys did their best to win the match they found themselves trailing 6-2. There are a few things to put right this Saturday: team play, positioning and awareness among other things. However, having said that, our boys did not bury their heads in the sand at all. They kept the pressure up until the last whistle and I look forward to another spirited performance this Saturday.
