St.Aubyns Host Inaugural Tournament!
Thursday 2 October 2008
St.Aubyns hosted an inaugural ‘Local Community Tournament’ on the 27th September and we invited the local schools to join us for a fun, footballing competition. There was a great response from our own boys and the skill of the pupils of Years 3 and 4 was clearly visible. On a blisteringly hot day we were treated to a feast of football which saw many goals and a number of fine performances. I was really impressed with the captains of the teams. They were: Ryan Jackson for the reds; Fenton Merkell for the yellows and Eric Swinn-Ward for the black and blues.
Unfortunately there could be only one winner and the winning team was Eric Swinn-Ward’s ‘Black and Blues!’ He received the trophy from the Headmaster and also scored some fantastic goals. Eric really does have a very strong shot and he will no doubt be featuring in many of our teams as he goes up the school. However, what was really good about the tournament was the level of participation from all of the boys and also the support which came from the parents, many of whom were cheering on their lads!
