St Aubyns Cubs defeat Tavistock and Summerhill

Under 9 Football Wednesday 24 September 2008

St Aubyns Under 9 A handed Tavistock and Summerhill a football lesson as they ran riot winning by 11 goals to 1.

Eric started the rout in the 5th minute with a shot from about 20 yards but Tavistock and Summerhill were resistant. They replied with a fantastic close range shot after some good build ups. The teams then went into half time level at 1-1.

After our pep talk and a few changes in personnel and strategies, the St Aubyns lads came back a changed outfit with one target  - to win emphatically and in style and they did exactly that.

Eric curled in a superb second soon after half-time and Fenton made it 3-1 a minute later with a sublime dinked effort. Then Ryan, drilled in a fourth goal before Eric completed his hat-trick with another fine finish. From then on, the boys scored goal after goal with Dylan scoring a double, Ryan a hat-trick and Eric and Fenton one a piece more to complete the afternoon with an emphatic victory.

As coach, it was a pleasure to just sit back and watch the lads run rings around their opponents and implement strategies taught in training. The lads showed a good mixture of talent and collective spirit and I am very proud of them.

The Under 9 B team also scored their first victory and they are over the moon.

Well done, boys.
