PRE-PREP
St Aubyns' Pre-Prep provides a diverse, innovative and inspiring curriculum which:
- educates and promotes the individual qualities of each child
- caters for the unique needs of every child
- nurtures and builds self-confidence
- provides children with a solid foundation in reading, writing and numeric skills
- learning is embedded in a creative curriculum.
The Curriculum
The Foundation Stage (Nursery & Reception) follow the Early Years Foundation Stage curriculum guidance. Years 1 & 2 follow the National Curriculum, Literacy and Numeracy Strategies and the Primary Framework for Literacy and Numeracy. The Pre-Prep curriculum is broad and balanced and also enriched with:
- specialist teaching in: Music (including the option of individual instrumental lessons), Dance, Drama, Science, French and Art
- first-hand experiences through trips and visits
- Departmental productions.
- Arts Express Days
ArtsExpress - is an integrated creative and expressive arts programme unique to St Aubyns School. It's aim is to develop the children's appreciation and understanding of the cultural world around them. Each year group experiences creative arts workshops with professional musicians, artists, dancers and actors, focussed on a particular theme, resulting in the production of a showcase of work.
Academic progress is monitored through formative and summative assessment throughout the year and this feeds into planning which is differentiated according to each child's individual needs. Pupil progress is regularly monitored informing future planning to ensure that individual needs are met. Parents receive a written report on a termly basis outlining progress in all areas. Targets are set for all children in the Pre-Prep to highlight areas for development in the future.
